Google Maps now offers walking, public transit directions

If you use computer directions for driving, you’re now in luck: Google Maps has added features that provide directions for those traveling by foot or by public transit.

Google Maps is located at http://maps.google.com. Click on “Get Directions” and enter your starting and destination addresses. Then see the drop-down box where you can choose “By Car,” “By Public Transit,” or “Walking.”

If you have entered your directions already, you can also click on the “Public Transit” link on the directions page (also in the left-hand bar) to find a bus or transit schedule for your area.

This might not help those of you who live in rural areas, but what a boon for city folks or those traveling by public transit on vacation.

Have you used this feature? Had any problems or great experiences? Please let us know …
