It turns out that a couple of weeks ago, I missed my two-year “blogiversary” — the birthday of the Cheap Like Me blog.
My inaugural post was modest. It spelled out the way I envisioned the blog to be, and truly, I haven’t strayed far from that vision:
This blog is about my journey to cheap. It’s about saving money, being frugal, without giving up the things that bring joy to my life: Friends. Good food. Travel. A glass of wine or a cocktail.
The vision expanded a bit as I quickly realized that my version of “the good life” is also about being respectful to the earth. Because that’s always been a part of my life, I love to share ideas with the community that has grown up around here.
Since that first month, when 1,200 people visited the site, we’ve grown.
- Every month, almost 10,000 people check out this site.
- I’ve posted 425 blog posts since June 2007.
- You’ve left 2,050 comments.
- I moved the blog to its own domain here at www.cheaplikemeblog.com.
- I’ve spent something like 400 hours on the blog and made new online friends.
There’s been a lot of sharing … or in some cases, oversharing. The most popular posts have drawn the attention of thousands of readers. The most alluring posts have been:
- My life with the Diva Cup — just about a year ago.
- Eco-quandary: Wash dishes by hand or with the dishwasher?
- Keep birds out of the garden — and the time is ripe, with seedlings and fruit for the picking in spring gardens.
- The original artisan/no-knead combo post – amazingly easy, incredible bread.
- Homemade baked tortilla chips (yum, we just made these yesterday).
What’s next?
That’s where I’d like input from you. What do you want from this blog in the next year? What’s on your mind? Fill me in and I’ll try to keep the Cheap coming — and as always, thanks for being part of it.

» Blogiversary! What can I do for you? | Cheap Like Me added these pithy words on Jun 16 09 at 2:19 pmThank you for persevering these past two years! I have very much enjoyed the fruits of your labors. Best wishes for continued success!
Congratulations on your blogiversary! I mis-read it and thought it said “Biogiversary.” Which in my mind meant you were going to give away something alive. Silly I know. What you have given me, is continued inspiration. Thank you! I appreciate it. Keep it coming. I don’t have any more specific comments than that. Cheers!
Congratulations!
I like you just the way you are.
Two years? Holy moly! Congratulations! Personally, I like the mix: some garden, some pf with an enviro spin, some crafty goodness. My favorites, though, are the cost-comparisons and test-driving of various “homemade” versions of stuff. Thanks for all you do.
