Good post. Of course the ultimate thing is to not create waste. But not always practical. Some of the things you talk about have other answers, for instance Plastic Clamshells. You can reuse them as plant seed starters. LOL I have an aunt that use to save the styrofoam from meat containers, wash it and reuse them. I always thought that was practical.

Count me in the take the recycling to a city dumpster camp. Fortunately I have one very close to my house that I have to pass when I'm driving when I'm out and about.

I second looking at corporate and private recycling programs. I recently found out that the customer service desk at a local mall has a box that accepts all types of batteries for recycling. Yay! One less thing to throw away!

I really enjoyed reading the way in which you put together action steps after letting the reader know that the U.S. ranks somewhere in the middle in terms of recycling. That is a big issue within itself! I received your pingback from my article "Worldwide Recycling Report Card: Does the U.S. Make the Grade?" and am glad I followed the page; you have a new reader.

Best,
Megan
