5 Homemade Wedding Invitation Ideas

Homemade wedding invitations can really set you apart from all your other friends.  Don’t settle for the same ‘cut and paste’ design or layout.  Your wedding is unique and your invitations should be too!

If you have chosen to make your own invitations for your wedding, you should start by gathering a lot of different materials together. While the process may seem daunting at first, consider it to be a bonding experience with those who are helping you. Have fun with it and try out different techniques and materials to find out which one is going to be the best for your own invitations. The following are 5 ideas that you can use for your own invitations:

1. Choose a Theme

The first idea for making your own invitations for your wedding is to choose a theme. You and your soon-to-be spouse should be in agreement on the theme that you choose. For example, if your ceremony will take place on the beach, an invitation with a beach them would go well.

2. Experiment With Shapes and Sizes

When creating your invitations, think outside the box with shapes and sizes. A lot of people are hung up on following traditions, but you can make more of an impact by creating a shape or choosing a size that is unique to the theme you have chosen for your wedding. In using the above beach example, you could choose to design your invitations in the shape of a seashell.

3. Add Your Personality

You may also want to consider livening up your invitations by putting on your own personal touch. Consider using an adhesive frame to add a picture of the two of you together on the invitation. Not only will this make the invitation more personal, you can be guaranteed that it will become a special keepsake to those who receive the invite.

4. Embellish, but not too much!

In making homemade wedding invitations, you also have the option of adding other embellishments. Glitter carefully sprinkled over your invitation will definitely grab the attention of those invited. If using glitter, however, you will want to make sure you do not use too much, as it could diminish the elegance of the occasion.

5. Add Some Elegance

The key with invitations is to make them unique to you and your soon-to-be spouse. Using rubber stamps to create the look you want is a great idea. In fact, you may even wish to have a stamp customized to make it completely unique to your own invitation. Along with this, you can even use embossing powder for a more dimensional or elegant look.
