Plenty of information on living cheap & green on the World Wide Web this week. Here are a few of the highlights:
- Make your own reed diffusers (and scent to go in them): If you’ve seen the trend toward reed fragrance diffusers, you probably have seen the price tag that comes with them. Fortunately, TipNut put together a how-to online. It’s a great way to re-use a cute little vase and freshen up the scent in your home, without using potentially carcinogenic air fresheners.
- Winter is for winterizing – Focus Organic used a post from Ideal Bite on winterizing your home. The post has 10 great ideas. The tips are great to jump on now — or yesterday, if you live in Colorado, where we’ve already seen days of snow and 34F-degree high temperatures.
- Tips on cooking for the week – The Simple Dollar wrote about “modular cooking” — cooking throughout the week so that one element of meal preparation paves the way for another meal later in the week.
- Enter a sustainable cooking contest – There is no Chairman, just great tips submitted by Brighter Planet readers. If you think you have what it takes to win, enter the “Mastering the Art of Sustainable Cooking” contest here. Contest runs through Dec. 31, 2009.
