This week, I’ve been out walking my dog a few times in the morning and have seen several people commuting to work by bike. It looks so pleasant — especially in the early, pre-rush-hour hours, that it almost makes me wish I had a workplace away from home to bike to.

I don’t have a bicycle right now, but I hope this is the year Mlle. Cheap will learn to ride, and perhaps I’ll find that perfect fit, too. I’ve been thinking about our destinations that are within a few miles and longing to feel the wind in my hair.

Ooh! I didn’t realize there was a whole week dedicated to cycle-commuting. Does cruising down the hill to The Market qualify as a commute? If so, then I’m on board.
I actually sold my scooter a few years ago to encourage myself to bike more. I called my scooter a “Fat Man’s Bicycle” — so it makes little sense that I actually weigh more NOW than I did then. I’m blaming gravity.
